Coffee Table - The idea for this table came after a visit to a local furniture store. It was built to complement an entertainment room. One side of the table, which faces an entertainment unit, contains drawers to hold CDs and DVDs. The other side, which faces the sofa, contains a flip-out drawer to store the system remotes.

The pine table top was worked into a worn, antique looking style. It was then finished with a combination of artist paint, three stain colours, and several coats of urethane to protect the final product. The remainder of the table was finished with several coats of different colour milk paint and sanded for an antique look.

Cherry Bookshelf - This bookshelf was inspired by typical Upper Canadian furniture of the Anglo-American influence. The apron at the bottom of the bookshelf is the defining element of style.

The wood for this bookshelf is a combination of cherry veneer plywood (for strength and stability) and solid cherry. The wood is natural to preserve the beauty of the wood grain and has a finish of antique oil and several coats of urethane.

Medicine Cabinet - Designing a bathroom with character and charm was important, therefore we created this medicine cabinet from a design book from the early 1900's.

It was constructed with cabinet grade plywood and solid trim with a beveled mirror set in the door. The finish is a semi-gloss Benjamin Moore paint.

Child's Bookshelf - Once upon a time there was a little girl with too many books... we designed a small bookshelf so she could reach all the shelves. The design also complemented the other furnishings in the room.

It was constructed with cabinet grade plywood and solid trim. The finish is a semi-gloss Benjamin Moore paint applied by Fine Finishes.

Linen Cabinet - There was one purpose for this cabinet when we designed it - maximize the storage space in the small bathroom (hence the awkward photo). The design consisted of six drawers and two upper cabinets that filled the full width of the wall and from floor to ceiling.

The cabinet was constructed of melamine and pine. It was finished with a primer and several coats of Benjamin Moore semi-gloss paint.

Storm Door - This storm door was an excellent addition to an older home. The previous door was rotten and lacked esthetic value. This new door was designed with style and flare that complements the house very well.

The door was constructed using an antique window and a cedar frame. It was finished with several coats of high grade exterior paint.

Side Table - This is one of two side tables designed for a customer who wanted to be able to use them as individual tables or as a coffee table when placed together. The picture illustrates the tables before the finishing process.

The tables were built with solid maple and table tops were laminated from a single 16 foot board to ensure a uniform grain pattern.

Deacon's Bench - This deacon's bench was designed for a customer who did not have a closet their front foyer and had only a narrow wall space to work with. The bench seat lifts up for storing hats and mitts while two rows of hooks provide easy access to hang coats.

The bench was built using solid white oak and oak plywood panels. Crown moulding was added to the top of this towering bench to balance the height of the back with the base. The bench was then stained to a dark tone and sealed with several coats of urethane to protect it from moisture.

Garden Trellis - This decorative garden trellis adds vertical height to an otherwise flat urban garden. The design inspiration came from a magazine photo of a Victorian garden.

The trellis was constructed of red cedar and left without a finish to age to a light silver colour.

Built-in Bookshelf - This built-in bookshelf was designed to disguise a low hanging heat duct during a basement renovation. The baseboard in the room continues around the bookshelf to complete the built-in look. The bookshelf was also painted to match the trim and other architectural elements in the home.

The bookshelf was constructed with 3/4 inch plywood and a clear pine face frame.

Kitchen Cabinets - These kitchen cabinets were built to complement the existing architecture of the home. The style of the doors mimics the interior doors in this older home. The cabinets were painted to maintain visual consistency and complement the painted trim throughout the house.

The body of the cabinets and drawers were built with white melamine for ease of cleaning and the doors and drawer faces were made of birch hardwood to ensure durability. The wood was finished with several coats of semi-gloss paint.
